Tarot Card of the Day: August 2, 2021 — The Lovers
Tarot Card of the Day: August 2, 2021 — The Lovers
The Lovers features two figures, male and female, who are, "the lovers." But, the card also includes an angel in the sky above, and the angel is even larger than the man and woman depicted below.
There is a "Tree of Knowledge" with fruit and a snake, which reminds many of us of the story of Adam and Eve, the first couple depicted in the Biblical book of Genesis.
Note that the man in the figure is looking outward, toward you, and the female figure is looking up, toward the angel.
There is also a mountain in the background, which serves to direct the eye upward, again, connecting us toward the angel. The angel may be the most important figure in the card.
In terms of atmosphere, we have a large and bright sun above, as well as a large patch of clear blue sky. There are no signs of storms, wind, or any kind of unpleasantness, as can be found in many of the other cards.
This card reminds us of love and its earthly qualities, those that are physical and emotional, and when it appears in a reading, especially in an upright position, it indicates that the querent is likely seeking love, in love, or in some other way experiencing love in the forefront of his/her/their mind.
However, this card can also indicate the absence of love, and that can be how love figures in the querent’s life. This can be true if the reading is focused on work or romantic relationships, as there are many kinds of love.
If you are not feeling enough love in your life, what might you do differently? If someone is behaving in a way that is decidedly unloving, you may find this card, asking you to consider responding in a more loving way, even though it seems a bit counterintuitive.
