Tarot Card of the Day: March 3, 2021 -- Six of Swords

The Six of Swords is often a card of rescue, of moving out of a bad situation into a better one. In many ways, it simply represents change.  The six swords can be read as a cage or a protective fence.
Whether the subject is finances, a career situation, or a marriage, sibling or other personal relationship, it tells us that something will change. It does not always indicate someone leaving the situation -- that is a very literal interpretation.
Note that the woman and child in the boat appear to be rescued by the gondolier.  One might wonder what she is leaving, and more importantly, why. Is she afraid? Is she guilty of an action she regrets but cannot face any longer? Does she feel shame?
This is one of few cards in which the figures are cloaked so as to hide their faces, which contributes to the potential for a shameful interpretation.
