Tarot Card of the Day: May 14, 2021 — The Ace of Wands

Tarot Card of the Day: May 14, 2021 — The Ace of Wands

New beginnings! This card basically cries out, "This means a fresh start!"

Also, there is this notion of "out of nothing comes something" -- as the hand coming out of the cloud offers a wand in leaf. There is a creative spark here. Also, this is not a sapling, not a seed that has just germinated. However, it often indicates the birth of an idea, the thought before it becomes action.

I like the landscape of this card -- not only do we have trees and water, suggesting nature, but we also have a fairly large building, perched in the distance, beyond some green hills. Look at that structure relative to the landscape. It's huge! Maybe perspective wasn't Pamela Colman Smith's strongest suit.

So then, what is the new thing? It could be a new romantic relationship, a new business venture, a new organization, a new job, all sorts of new things. But it can also mean a new approach to an old problem, or situation, or relationship.

However, there is a flip side to all this happiness. There can be a new approach to a situation that is NOT the best or smartest. So often we read this card very positively. But it can also represent a start down a road one should not take. It can in fact represent something new that turns out to be a mistake. Ever have those instances when you do something and later you ask yourself, "What was I thinking????" That is what I'm referring to. Look at the surrounding cards and be open to the possibility that this card could be a bit of a warning, especially when considering an opportunity or trying to make a decision.

"Good luck on your new.... whatever!" may be what the Ace of Wands could be saying. (But at least it's not The Fool. More about him later.)
